Cat Tales

"My mum's cat, Loeres Lappedief (in full, usually just Loeres), has this very very cat-like habit of staring intently at something we can't see. She follows it around the house, sometimes just observes it, sometimes even attacks it. We think she's seeing 'mumsels' (as we call them in Dutch).

"Loeres is a complete sucker for everything she can crawl into. Put an empty (or not empty, she doesn't really mind) cardboard box somewhere on the floor, and before you know it she'll be sitting in it, peering out with an air of "hmm, yes, this is a good box. Spacious, well lit, comfortable, nicely placed. Good human, you'll get a cookie (if I ever get round to buying them)". She does the same with bags. It does make moving something to be very aware of, before you know it you've packed the cat instead of all the books you were planning to put in that box."
